Keita Bates-Diop scored a team-high 24 points to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves to a win over the Toronto Raptors, 103-92, in the Las Vegas Summer League at Cox Pavillion on Sunday.
Eleven points was the largest lead for either team, and it was also the deciding margin, as a dominant fourth quarter run helped propel the Wolves to victory. After ceding an 11-point edge in the final minutes of the third quarter, Minnesota got back on track thanks in large part to Bates-Diop’s impressive offensive output. The team scored 32 fourth-quarter points to swing the score 13 points in their favor.
Bates-Diop, a rookie forward out of Ohio State, shot 7-of-15 from the field and grabbed 11 rebounds in the win. Rookie big man Amile Jefferson also had a big day, pulling down a team-high 13 rebounds, seven of which came on the offensive end.
Malachi Richardson led Toronto with 15 points in 20 minutes of play. Sophomore forward OG Anunoby added another 13 points along with three assists, a block, and a steal.
Up next, the Timberwolves face off with the Nets on Monday, while the Raptors will matchup with the Thunder that same day.
