Ohio Football Falls to Marshall

The Ohio University football team fell to Marshall 44-14 Saturday afternoon at Joan C. Edwards Stadium.

The Bobcats got on the board in the third quarter when redshirt junior Derrius Vick connected with Sebastian Smith on a seven-yard pass to make the game 41-7.

In the fourth quarter, redshirt sophomore JD Sprague connected with redshirt junior Ian Dixon on a seven-yard touchdown to make the score 41-14.

Offensively, Vick finished the game 18-for-19 with 200 yards, a touchdown and an interception. On the ground he had 51 yards on 11 carries.

Sprague finished four-for-eight with 36 yards and a touchdown.

On the ground, freshman A.J. Ouellette finished with 37 yards on four carries.

Dixon finished the game with 37 yards on three catches and a touchdown, while Smith finished with 56 yards on five receptions and touchdown.

Defensively, redshirt senior Nathan Carpenter collected his fifth career interception and his first since Oct. 28, 2012 at Miami.

Senior Chase Cochran's 53-yard reception in the first quarter now gives him 13 catches of 40-plus yards in his career.

"There are plenty (of positives). I thought we caught the ball a lot better than we did last week. We ran the ball pretty decently when we needed and besides penalties, there were definitely a lot of positives that we can learn from and I think it'll be good for us to finally be at home next week." -Derrius Vick

The Bobcats return to Athens Saturday, Sept. 20 when they take on Idaho at Peden Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN 3.
